A Galilean Invariant Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Model For Curved Flows

چکیده

A Galilean invariant weak-equilibrium hypothesis that is sensitive to streamline curvature is proposed. The hypothesis leads to an algebraic Reynolds stress model for curved ows that is fully explicit and self-consistent. The model is tested in curved homogeneous shear ow: the agreement is excellent with Reynolds stress closure model and adequate with available experimental data. مدل‌سازی عددی جریان‌های لایه‌بندی شده‌ی غیر‌همسان با استفاده از مدل آشفتگی صریح جبری تنش رینولدز

Flows of natural hydro-environments are usually turbulent and mostly stratified, like the flows in lakes, reservoirs, estuaries and atmosphere to name a few. In stratified flows due to the buoyancy forces, the turbulent stresses are usually non-isotropic. Therefore the accuracy of the numerical simulations for such flows is highly dependent on the turbulence model and the implementation of non-...

Galilean-invariant lattice-Boltzmann models with H theorem.

We demonstrate that the requirement of Galilean invariance determines the choice of H function for a wide class of entropic lattice-Boltzmann models for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The required H function has the form of the Burg entropy for D=2, and of a Tsallis entropy with q=1-(2/D) for D>2, where D is the number of spatial dimensions. We use this observation to construct a f...

Fully-Explicit and Self-Consistent Algebraic Reynolds Stress Model

A fully-explicit, self-consistent algebraic expression for the Reynolds stress, which is the exact solution to the Reynolds stress transport equation in the `weak equilibrium' limit for twodimensional mean ows for all linear and some quasi-linear pressure-strain models, is derived. Current explicit algebraic Reynolds stress models derived by employing the `weak equilibrium' assumption treat the...

Performance Evaluation of a Curved Type Vane Separator at Different Plate Spacings in the Range of 25 to 35mm Using Numerical Simulation

In this paper, the turbulent air droplet flow inside a single passage of a curved type vane separator has been studied numerically. The simulation is based on the Eulerian - Lagrangian method. For turbulent air flow calculations, a computer code was developed to solve the Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations together with the equations of Reynolds Stress Transport Model (RSTM) o...
